Dan has set himself up nicely to run right into the crusades after this new series, and I for one would absolutely love to hear him tackle that subject. Thor’s Angels and this new episode lays a lot of the framework he’d need to set down first. He’d just need an introductory episode highlighting the Muslim conquests, the byzantines and Seljuks, and the papacy and he’d be ready to tackle the first crusade by episode 2.
I would pay good money to hear Dan’s take on the rampaging Seljuk Turks, the Byzantine loss at Manzikert and their call for help, Pope Urban’s speech at Clermont, and damn, to hear Dan get to take Bohemund for a spin for a few hours would be epic. Then imagine Dan’s take on the colossal Siege of Antioch and the triumph at the capture of Jerusalem. Come on Carlin, MAKE IT HAPPEN
