So I (18F) have been staying with my boyfriend (20M) more often than not at his apartment (itās better than my dorm). Things are really nice but I realized something today that kind of sent me down a rabbit hole of my own emotions and childhood.
My boyfriend was doing some paperwork and he was actively getting frustrated. For some reason that ātriggersā me if that makes sense. Like I start to get stressed out and I have to leave the room.
I noticed that I do that with ALL men. Women are fine, I can be in the room with 20 agitated bitches and not bat an eye, but with men that are agitated I get anxious and sometimes start crying and apologizing for situations that donāt have anything to do with me.
I realized that when my dad got agitated he made it a point to attack you or take his anger out on whoever was in the room. So to not make myself a target for anger and frustration, I have to leave the room. Even my boyfriend caught an attitude with me over something small. He asked me a really backhanded question and I in response just stayed silent and went to chill in the living room.
If anyone else can relate thatād be amazing. Pls tell me Iām not overreacting. Or tell me if I am lol.
