Hi, im a 31 year old male, this takes place over a 5 year period
I'll try to make this short because I suck at grammar
About 5 years ago I lived in an upstairs apartment in a quadplex, right below me and my then girlfriend was a single mom, her 15 year old daughter and her 7 year old son.
The mom and daughter argued ALOT and I felt like the mom could get extremely cruel with her words.
One day after an extremely bad argument the mom kicked the daughter out, we said she could crash on pur couch and that we would help her get everything sorted put in the morning.
Well the mom didn't want her back so she moved in with us full time, after about 8/9 months we started the process to take legal custody.
Not to be malicious but so we could be there for school/medical stuff, the mom was ok with it we were just about th sign the papers when the mom asked the daughter for a second chance
The daughter said yes, which I can understand why.
Well I stayed in contact and always had an open door and a hot meal for her when she needed
Last month the daughter had her own baby (she's 20 now) the dad is not in the picture at all
She asked me to be godfather, which I was ecstatic over and said yes, when she asked me this she asked if she could start calling me dad dispite me onlybeing10/11 years older then her,, saying I'm the only father figure she ever had and that she's always called me her foster dad
I said I would be honored and honestly it made me tear up that she thought so much of me
Well my ex from back then (we talk and we work as friends just not as a couple) and her mom (yup she's still in the picture) are both saying it's creepy because of how close we are in age and I should tell her not to call me anything but my name but, I loke that she sees me as a dad it means the world to me and I'm more then happy to let her call me dad
