Please delete if not allowed, but it's my favourite story ever.
When my daughter turned 1 we had a chance to go for a real cheap trip to Disneyland Paris. Of course, we took it, and had a fantastic few days.
On the last night, we had just watched the fireworks for a few minutes to end the day and we're working our way back down Main Street. My wife and her family drifted off to get a few last minute souvenirs. My daughter and I were hanging around outside waiting while the fireworks were still going on. I took her out of her buggy for a daddy-daughter cuddle. She was transfixed by the lights, the explosions, the colours, and I could see this all reflected in her eyes.
I didn't see any of it. I was watching her; the reactions on her face, the flickers of smiles, the squeaks and gasps at each firework. I burst into tears. In the middle of Disneyland, surrounded by people, and I'm crying like an idiot. Fact is, that was a moment that I will never get again, and one that she has no memory of, but one that I will never forget. Nobody can take that away from me.
