So, I made the mistake today of responding to someone on my SO's facebook page who suggested we bedshare to solve the problem of our infant not wanting to go to sleep the other night without being snuggled. So, I immediately pointed out this was dangerous, and that we did it only once and I still wake up in a panic every few hours thinking a pillow is my kid and I've just squished her into a now blue pancake.
Figured shooting down low-hanging fruit like that would be easy.
Oh, dear Daddit's, I was wrong.
In came the rest of the Mommy Brigade throwing all sorts of shit my way suggesting that "it's perfectly safe as long as you do X, Y, Z, P, D, Q, R, S, N, Z again, A, and G."
My fellow Daddits, I've learned today: If "other moms" offer advice, tell the SO quietly that their friends are full of shit. Doing so on facebook no matter how correct you are is only going to enrage the horde and make you the target of much anguish. Even now they're still patting each other on the back for supporting better baby development and "killing bad advice by pediatricians".
Other parents are the part of parenting I hate so much. Everyone, especially moms, have advice for everything. Challenge their advice, especially as a Dad, and you're in for it.
