My daughter picked out a toy and book to donate, and this is behavior that we want to encourage and reward. I'm inclined to find a Toys for Tots site where the marines are out so someone can say “thank you" to her - I feel like that will make her feel better about it. In the alternative, am I overthinking this entire thing?
