I've not seen my kids in person for about 2 months. For context, I had a psychotic episode earlier in the year and the ex has denied me contact without supervision since then. She doesn't trust me to be a stable person, which I get 100%.
Since that incident I have turned things around. I'm getting regular therapy, have become far more settled and grounded, and am also on the verge of complete sobriety. I'm proud of what I've achieved, and look forward to the future. I changed my mindset of getting better for my kids, to getting better for myself which will benefit my kids. It's been a game changer.
Anyway, we sat down with a mediator today and came to an agreement that I see my girls every week, and alternate weekends. There's also the opportunity for them to stay with me once I move into a larger place, which is imminent.
I'm on cloud 9 at the moment. Anyone struggling with similar issues, keep going. If you haven't this far, please reach out to someone for help. Hell, reach out to me if you need somebody to talk to! Onwards and upwards chaps!!
