Hello all,
I really want to get back into riding. It has been a long while since I've ridden and I'd like to get opinions on if I should have my bike tuned up or just get a new one.
The details:
- The bike is a Schwinn Ranger mountain bike, so definitely not anything fancy or expensive
- I think I got it in 2015? It hasn't been ridden all that much but I was going on short rides a few days a week up until fall 2020
- It's been in storage since October 2020. And I mean in a literal storage unit. First a nice indoor climate controlled one, but since April 2021 it's been in a small outdoor unit.
- definitely has flat tires, I'm unsure of the condition of anything else
- I wouldn't be commuting or going on long rides, just 30-60 mins in the mornings
- I don't have a huge budget
Should I hang on to the bike and just take it to a shop to get it tuned up? I'm worried the tune up might be more than the bike is worth, but are Schwinn's good even though they're cheap? Should I hold on to it? I'll be honest if I replace it it's probably going to be with another Walmart Schwinn or Huffy in the $100 range.
Thank you!
