Hi guys,
A question for you all! I took my back wheel apart because I was noticing some movement on my cassette. I figured it to be the body, so I replaced that. Then I noticed some movement (very minimal, but still) on the bearings of the wheel hub. So I guess the bearings in the hub need replacing too.
I can take my wheel to a mechanic of course, but they charge me over 100 EUR every time for bearing replacement (did my front wheel a while ago) and to me that's somewhat expensive. I think the costs are that hight because its a sort of time consuming job, I can get the bearings themselves for around 6 euro.
So, I can get the bearings out, but... and here it comes: I don't own a bearing press. Is it possible to get the bearings in without one? I did some research (ofcourse) and I found a few tips through Google, from putting the bearings in the freezer overnight, then heating up the hub with a hair blower and gently press them in by hand, to tapping them in with a plastic hammer.
Any DIY tips on this? Thanks in advance!
