First time on this sub Reddit but I'm currently working in private security and only going to be doing this for a couple more years and would like to transition into the cyber security field. My question is what would be the best route to get into this field? A cyber security or computer science degree? Just get the certs that employers are looking for? A combination of both? I tried to do some homework and researched a bit but I'm getting a mixed bag of answers. Also for some context I became interested in this field from watching some pentesting videos and that's the area I find the most interesting to work in. Also as far as IT skills, I have zero. My background is mainly corrections/private security. I appreciated any and all comments!
