Do you guys think cyberpunk is still lousy or do I just need to continue playing?

So I bought the game a few days ago because of the playstation sale and I’ve been playing pretty much the starting so far. I’m playing the corpo storyline.

Please don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to purposefully shit on the game on it’s sub, just discussing and I want to know if it gets better. I am not a full-on gamer I just enjoy some games here and there like the wolfenstein games, rdr2, fc3 etc. I also didn’t really bother with the game’s hype at the start, and just waited until it became cheap.

My limited experience so far is that this seems to be the barebones framework of an actual game, pretending to be a playable product.

Graphics wise, on my ps5, it looks like a psp or ps2 era game with slightly better effects to mask it, at times. Light just wraps around characters weirdly and the shadows look very wrong sometimes (especially on people and cars). During a convo with Dex in his car, I got distracted by the amateurish repeating texture on the roof lining of the car that looks like something someone could have done using a simple blender tutorial.

(I know I’m still in the prologue but) the world feels alive but empty at the same time as well. Maybe they designed it with the lore and architecture in mind, but didn’t give time for the world to be designed from a game perspective. It almost feels like it punishes exploration in a way. The npcs just feel like plastic and the weird one line of ‘conversation’ and then silence just makes it worse.

The gameplay itself feels so tedious too. For example, I have to keep clicking uneventful dialogues and hear Jackie say things for 5 minutes just for him to essentially go ‘here is a car, meet this guy called Dex’ or walk around a club following this lady narrating the story in the most boring manner before some simple, tedious puzzle gameplay. It’s like the story and the filler are one and the same sometimes, so you never get invested. Instead of rpg, it’s a normal action game, but before each uninspired mission there’s a long bland dialogue thing instead of a cutscene. They could have had less dialogue scenes and made the ones left, into a more telltale style where things matter at least. At least the unoriginal gameplay copied from ubisoft and rockstar, would be bolstered by some story then.

Please don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to purposefully shit on the game on it’s sub, just discussing and I want to know if it gets better.
