My recent experience with Hypr Controllers

Post Body

I recently invested $243 in a custom Hypr Recon controller, attracted by the promise of a premium gaming experience tailored to my preferences. Despite my excitement, the process and product fell significantly short of expectations.

Firstly, the promised 4-5 week build time stretched into an excruciating 10 weeks, with minimal communication from Hypr. Upon arrival, the packaging was inadequate, resulting in a damaged controller and loose parts scattered within the box. My attempts to address these issues were met with silence after an initial request to test the controller, leaving me feeling ignored and undervalued as a customer.

Performance-wise, the controller is disappointing. The upgraded sticks, featuring Hall effect sensors, show a significant 16-18% error rate. The programmable rear buttons, despite their potential, fail to register inputs reliably, requiring multiple presses to function. The triggers, upgraded to mouse click sensors, saw the left one become non-functional within weeks. These defects, coupled with Hypr's lack of response to my concerns, undermine the value of the enhancements and the controller itself.

Moreover, for a product marketed as superior to an elite controller, the absence of a case or battery pack and reliance on AA batteries is a glaring oversight. This oversight further diminishes the controller's value and convenience.

In conclusion, my experience with Hypr and their Recon controller has been deeply frustrating. The significant delays, poor packaging, unresponsive customer service, and flawed product performance have led me to regret my purchase. I cannot, in good faith, recommend Hypr to others and will not be supporting them in the future. My hope is that this review will guide potential customers in making an informed decision.

Edit: Just this morning, 20 days after this post and the chargeback had started HYPR finally decided to email me to find a resolution. Within two hours of that email I was again emailed asking to rate them on their response lmao. I’m going to go through with a full return in hopes they are honest and quick… but this is laughable. I’ll keep this post updated.

Edit: it is now 5-18-24. I returned the broken controller to HYPR over a month ago and have had radio silence with no refund. Do not fall for this companies scams or lies.
