After using multiple conditioners that I thought would help give my dry hair moisture I'm pretty sure it's actually my routine that is keeping my hair dry. Recently I've learned, from this subreddit and online, that I've been shampooing my hair (2b, frizzy and poofy) way too often ( about every other day). Which makes sense. The best conditioners in the world wont make a difference if you keep drying you hair out with shampoo every other day.
I think it's time I try washing my hair with shampoo and conditoner only once a week, that way my hair isnt constantly dried out all the time. Although, one thing I dont understand about washing your hair once a week is... will the moisture in my hair come back on it's own once I start doing this and my hair wont look dry and poofy after everytime I wash it and will conditioners actually start having an effect on my hair? Or is the purpose of washing once a week to have more days where my hair looks healthy because the natural oils of my hair have spread from my roots to the rest of my hair?
Sorry if my question doesn't make sense, I can try and clarify what I mean if you have a question. I'm actually trying to take care of my waves for the first time in my life and I dont quite understand everything yet.
