Getting help with your curls
How to write a successful post: We love to help our fellow curlies and wavies love their hair! Help us help you by writing a post with specific questions and lots of info about what you currently do to your hair. Curl type, products, and how you wash/style it are all useful to us. Please check out our resources first!
Ask a question in our weekly thread: Check out our weekly No Question is Dumb thread! It is stickied to the front page by AutoModerator.
A note on selfies & sharing your curls:
If you post a selfie of your hair victory, you must include your routine in the comments (rule 2)! We are a learning sub and would like to hear how you achieved your gorgeous curls. Posts without routines are actively removed.
FAQ:
- What is the Curly Girl/Guy method (aka CG method)?
The CG method is a haircare method that is specifically geared towards curls and waves.
Curly hair is almost always super dry by default, thanks to sulfates, the harsh detergents in shampoo. So we remove sulfates from the routine. Problem is that only sulfates can wash away certain ingredients, like silicones, so we remove those too, leaving only ingredients that can be washed away with JUST water. The CG method mostly focuses around removing both sulfates and silicones in attempt to be gentler on already unruly hair!
Saying a product is CG then says that it follows these guidelines. Check out the wiki & sidebar for more info!
- How can I tell if a product is CG-approved?
You can check our holy grail product list, or check specific ingredients here. Naturallycurly.com also has a great database. All of these links are also in the sidebar.
Wishing you many wonderful hair days! :)
