Hi, I’ve been figuring out my natural hair for a few years and am finally open to having a curly cut. I’ve been nervous about it for a few reasons.
1 - my hair is way more curly on the top layer than underneath, underneath is more loose waves, where the top layer can have tighter waves and ringlets. Currently, my hair is all the same length so my top layer hides the straighter bits underneath (photo as example)
From my understanding, a curly cut adds layers. I’m worried that this would make it so that my top layer is curly but you’d see the longer loose waves underneath, as the top layer would be shorter. Sorry I hope that made sense.
In short, I’m worried that the first half of my hair from root to mid would be ringlets, then that would just stop half way down and you’d see the underneath layer and it would be waves/straighter, so overall would look really weird and the layers wouldn’t blend nicely.
—If anyone else has a curlier top and straighter underneath, how do you get your hair cut?—
2 - I have a round face, and I’m worried that a shorter hair cut would look weird with my face. I’ve always had shoulder length hair or longer as if not I’m worried I’d just look like a ball 😅. How short would I need to go to encourage my bottom layer of hair to curl more?
With a correct cut I know my curls would shine I’m just really nervous as my hair takes ages to grow and I’m worried layers would sit weird for my hair.
For this photo was taken a while ago, I think I used only curls for everything, though did decide it wasn’t for me. I now use alberto giovanni products.
Thanks in advance for any haircut advice?
You have the most gorgeous hair. I have my fingers crossed for you 😍🤞 I'm sure it'll turn out well
