I am part of a discussion group that will be discussing veganism/vegetarianism under a global cultural perspective in our upcoming meeting. To introduce this topic, i am looking to compile a summary of different cultural attitudes towards the consumption, use and obtainment of animal products. You can help me by commenting what your culture/s think about this, ideally in form of a proverb or quote from a religious/spiritual text referencing animal products in general or veganism/vegetarianism in particular.
Most of the members in this discussion are white europeans and part of the goal of the discussion is to broaden our horizons and include non-european perspectives, so input from cultures outside of the european/christian sphere of influence are especially appreciated!
Please note that my goal in this isn't to find people who praise or denounce veganism/vegetarianism. On the contrary, i am hoping to hear as many different perspectives as possible. I also do not want to start a discussion, i am just here to gather opinions.
Thank you for taking time for this!
