I think I know the answer to this, I bought some beautiful pre-made and frozen duck confit in 2021 right before I lost my taste and smell to Covid. Just now getting it back.
The duck confit has been in my freezer since 2021, the sell by date was in 2022....if it's been in a deep freeze all this time...is it even remotely still safe? It's the kind of individual shrink wrapped duck legs you get from D'Artanian or a high quality butcher, rather than something I've made myself.
My initial inclination is chuck it, and plan better in the future, but I'm honestly wondering if the miracle of the confit process and the quality of my freezer...maybe?
