Just paid $100 for a pink visa flying out of Cancun, did I get scammed?

I have a USA passport but was almost certain as long as you were flying out of a different country you only needed a green visa which was $70 cheaper. Iām flying Viva Aerobus out of Cancun and it was a worker who told me I definitely needed the pink one. Is that correct or was I scammed?
