If you drive a White tesla

Post Body

Hi. Just found this sub, realized I had a story to share that fits perfectly.

About a month ago, at around 6:40 p.m. on a monday night, I was walking through the parking lot going up the ramp from the first to the second story parking lot. After having had a great day, i was happy, carefree, and felt like nothing could ruin that. I truly felt like i was going to rock this class I was on my way to, and nothing could bring me down.

And then a car backed into me.

It was a white Tesla, and thats most relevant because Im pretty sure its the only reason the car stopped short of completely running me over, due to its nifty little auto-brake feature that, judging by the online videos and also the loud thud it made when it hit me, could be a bit better designed. I wasnt even walking fast, and was squarely behind the car, a bit to the drivers side, on impact, so its not like the driver couldnt have seen me before deciding to gun it in reverse like a "Fast and the Furious" movie. The driver was a seemingly petite asian woman in her early 20s, and she had a passenger who was likewise of a similar description. She also hadnt even bothered to look back before backing straight into me as well, and slammed into the side of my body. I know that, because after i looked up, mid-collission, i watched as she suddely realized that her car was not doing the thing she intended it to do (car no go vroom vroom), and her expression turned to pure terror as she realized the thud in the back of her car in fact originated from the (hopefully) unusual interaction between the rear end of her car and a ducking human being. Who knew that one of those would just happen to be randomly walking by, anyways? Its not like thats a common place and time for students to be getting in and out of class, right?

Luckily, the car abruptly stopped as it swept me off my feet like a princess in a disney movie, and i realized at that moment two things: first, thank God for tesla's (rather crappy) auto-brake system that stopped just fast enough to only somewhat run me over; and, also, that i might just have been a little too hopeful thinking i was going to actually have a good day at school.

So, there I was. Frozen in terror, arm hurts from the impact, heart stuck in my throat beating so fast i'm starting to think its trying to escape from my chest like those things in "Alien", and im just trying to process what the duck just happened, when i lock eyes with the driver. Two thoughts were all that could come to mind. First a realization of an overwhelming supply of, pure, unbridled anger at the carelessness of another person irresposibly operating equipment capable of killing someone in the blink of an eye that caused me to almost immediately want to unleash my inner disgruntled veteran, and also, a small glimmer of wisdom that i came to realize was probably worth listening to, given the odd, yet, rather tedious situation.

But what, pray tell, is this situation, you may ask? Well, as it so happens, I am not, in fact, a teenage princess in a disney movie as you may have guessed. Im a 6'3" broad-chested white guy in his early 30's, who is on the verge of ripping a small, terrified, teenager of an ethinc minority apart with words Im unsure if she even knows exists. So yeah, on a list of things that look reeeally really bad in almost every concievable way, i believe that, uh, is pretty high up there. Not to mention the fact that she obviously didnt do it intentionally, and that there are much better ways to handle the situation. I'd like to think I'm a good person, and that i would compose myself in a better way than that, but people have moments of weakness when theyre presented situations they cant properly process what the right thing to do in the moment is. Cue that little voice of wisdom that told me to hold back.

After what seems like several seconds where we are both staring at each other blankly, both frozen in place and entirely unable to think, i do the single only thing i can think of doing at the time and simply throw my hands in the air angrily. I threw in a very controlled "what the duck?!?" to emphasize my point, before turning away and walking off, trying to not only process what just happened, but also all of this sudden anger that has now thoroughly ruined my night. I looked back (it was more of a glare to be honest, and I'm sorry, but I was literally shaking with anger and really, really trying to compose myself while sorting through what just happened) and she just sat there, frozen in place in the drivers side, her friend likewise a statue in the other seat, both staring back at me as i walked away.

I will say this: At the time, i was completely unable to register what you or your passenger looked like, so please, if you ever happen to run into me, please dont be afraid or nervous or anything. We all make mistakes, and Im really just glad no one got hurt. I really just hope you learn from this AND NEVER DO IT AGAIN. PLEASE. PRETTY PLEASE.

Also, because your car was covered in dust for whatever reason, I also was covered in that for the rest of the night. So... if anyone happens to spot a white, pristine tesla with the imprint of a goofy looking tall guy imprinted into the left rear side of it in lieu of the typical "Wash Me" phrase, now you know the story behind it.

Edit: Two words.
