Why can’t I drop this class?

So, I have been trying to drop this math class for about a week since it’s online and at 8am. But it just hits me with “cannot drop class as it is used to complete pathway courses/ GE requirements.” I’ve contacted IT and my professor both weren’t able to help does that mean I’m screwed and just have to take this class?
