Tips on how to move to Microsoft as a .Net developer in the UK?

I've been a .Net developer in the UK for a few years now and I'm thinking about long term plans. I'm thinking about wanting to maybe join Microsoft in the future. Is it as competitive as say the FAANG group, especially in the UK? Does anyone have any advice on things to do/work on in the short/medium term in order to help my application to join them in the future? I imagine having someone internal at Microsoft to reference me would be ideally. I don't know anyone so any tips on how to find such people to network with?
