I'm a working student soon to graduate. The company I'm working for has expressed interest in hiring me full time after graduation. However, my manager said he needs several approvals from higher up people in the the hiarchy. He said he thinks it will not be a problem and he can get me hired full-time easily. I like this company and the colleagues so I would love to continue working here.
I will graduate in 3 months and I'm feeling a bit uneasy that I do not have a written full time contract yet (I've been waiting for 4 weeks to hear back from my manager). We have not discussed benefits or salary yet.
I'm considering going on a job hunt for two reasons, even though I'm 90% sure I'll get an offer from the current employer:
If I have other offers, it will be easier for me to negotiate a higher salary at the current company when they offer a FT job.
In case my current employer changes their mind (10% probability), I have other options to fall back on.
Cons:
Job hunt is very time consuming and exhausting. I could use this time to write my thesis, or improve my German. If I get a good offer from my current employer, all my effort in job hunt will be waste. Perhaps I am only paranoid about not getting an offer, I should relax and wait?
