Hello all,
I'm currently conflicted about career choices. I'm currently a Jr system admin in the army and I'm a computer science student. I think I would like to do software development once I leave the army. I dedicate majority of my time learning Java and doing small homelab IT projects.
But honestly I just want to make 70k a year working in tech. I like both IT and Software so doing either doesn't bother me. I just think that since I am learning programming at home and doing IT at work I'm not getting specialized enough in either. Am I tripping? I just want job security with my tech skills, certs, and degree once I leave the army. But I feel by not specializing I'm holding myself back.
Like do I build on my career as a sysadmin or do I venture into development roles? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks I'm advance.
