6 month unpaid internship, should I?
Post Body
I went through 3 interviews only to find out that it’s unpaid and 6 months instead of the initially promised 3, here are the details:
- Company hasn’t acquired funding yet.
- Company MIGHT acquire funding in December and if they do they’re MIGHT compensate me.
- Company will provide very little actual mentoring, I’m basically just doing a job for them.
- Company expects at least 25 hours a week from me.
- They expect me to attend 11am meetings every day and complained about me having a job and my inability to attend meetings sometimes.
- All my code is closed source and made me sign an NDA where they state they can take all material I have on projects I did with them upon separation.
The market is hard, but honestly I’m struggling to find a reason to be working 50 to 80 hour weeks only to barely afford my car payment at the end of the month and have nothing to show for it after all is said and done. What do you guys think? Any way I can strong arm them into paying me with these type of expectations?
