Shifting to computer related field from law enforcement
Post Body

Recently, I have been contemplating about my current job and especially this home quarantine season, it made me more think about my career. During my first few years I really love my job and since I graduated kinda late for my age (24 that time), I am in early 30's, this is my first job. I have been working for almost 7 years now as an Immigration Officer in the Philippines, I graduated B.S. in Criminology and passed my national licensure examination as a registered Criminologist. Just a brief summary of my job description: we stamp passports and decide if we will allow people to enter or leave the Philippines.

Fast forward today, I am currently on 3-month vacation leave (Currently in USA) because I am not happy about my job anymore. Tho the salary is really good, but the work is redundant and I feel that I cannot grow and use my skills in my job. I want to develop new and learn another skills. I feel that I am underachiever and need to explore other fields.

This quarantine season made me think that the digital world (computer/tech/software companies etc) are really in advantage now and I would like to shift to this field but I just don't know how to start. My best friend recommended me to learn SQL and I am currently studying it on Udemy and it was great, I don't know what's next to learn after to help myself to be in computer related field. I am down to work in USA or Canada or Australia too. I love designing, I was an Industrial Design student for 3 years before shifting to Criminology course. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
