Programming BootCamp, BS in CS, or Self-Learning
Post Body

Hi all,

I'm on the cusp of getting into programming for professional development. I'm currently an IT Systems Administrator working quite heavily in cloud computing with an AS in Computer Systems Administration. I've seen a lot of traditional SysAdmin roles move more to DevOps/Automation Engineering, especially in Cloud Computing and I would prefer not to be left behind.

I'd like to round out my resume with programming knowledge and I'm at a cross-roads. Do I go back to school to get a BS (many companies like having a BS on a resume), go to a programming boot camp, or continue to self-learn?

Most of my certifications and knowledge have been through self education so I'm not opposed to it. I'm just wondering what others think.
