Hours worked on each coast of the US ( + Europe out of curiosity)
Post Body

I started my career interning outside of Philly and had a job at a satellite IBM campus, as well as a maturing startup, and neither had a culture where people regularly worked past 5. Now I'm in NYC and I'm told I'm lucky for working "only" 45 hours a week until 6.

Is working culture on the west coast more relaxed? I've heard that it's both more laid back, but also that people live at their engineering jobs over there. I'm just curious as I'm hunting to get that hour of my life back in a future job, and wanted people's experience. Bonus points if you've ever actually had a real post-grad job in the bay area.
