Is it the norm for companies to interview in January, or is it another "wave" of interviews?
Post Body

I woke up this morning to a couple of emails from recruiters asking for an interview. It was really strange because I submitted applications to these companies back in early November and had heard nothing back for two months, during which I signed with an internship program that I feel kind of "meh" about.

I was wondering if interviewing was the norm for many companies, because I feel as if all the big companies (Google, FB, Microsoft, etc.) interview earlier than this. If this is the norm, should I wait until at least January before signing an offer in the future? Or do many companies hire earlier as well, then have another hiring wave in January? I had felt pressured into signing with my current program since I had heard nothing but silence and assumed no one else wanted to interview me, and having a few companies that I had really wanted to work for respond makes me feel a bit sad at a possible missed opportunity. :(

EDIT: should've specified for summer internships
