Where should I go from here? [x-post from /r/WebDevelopment]
Post Body

This question probably fits here better

A bit of a background: I graduated university about 3 years ago, with a Computer Science degree. I am not the most academic student however. I currently have about 2.5 years of experience in the field. My main areas of expertise are ASP.Net, MVC3/4, IIS technologies.

Currently looking to shift away from a junior dev role, and a pay rise. Would my current experience and skillset be enough to land a mid level role?

At the moment I am usually working on menial support tasks, so I feel that this would be a right time to move jobs, and also because I don't see myself improving as a developer anymore - I have not had actual programming jobs to do for the last 8 months. However, I have also been advised that I currently have some business knowledge which could be crucial, so I should also contemplate staying. What would be the best move for me?

Also, what should I add onto my resume? Like would I need a portfolio of sorts? Being a junior developer, I have never worked on any full scale system, but mostly on components of a bigger system, or mid level sites. What kind of projects should I put into my portfolio, if required?
