I (24M) feel like a semi-fraud in my job and I don't know if it will get better

Post Body

I am a self taught developer who started off in early 2021

My main focus was on getting a job, so I focused most of my effort on learning how to pass interviews, and I got lucky enough to get into internships with good companies in 2022

Close to the end of 2022 I was lucky enough to get a job as a fullstack web developer where I currently work.

I feel like a fraud occasionally at the jobs and I’m starting to get worried that it’s not just imposter syndrome

I don’t understand things. First of all, I noticed that my strength lies in identifying patterns in existing code and recreating them to get tickets done, but when I have to work on something that hasn’t been done before, I struggle really hard. Also, at my company, on Reddit, among fellow friends that are developers, I don’t understand technical talk

I see people talking about why they prefer one web framework to the other and talk about bundling, compile time, efficiency and other technical terms and I don’t know or understand any of this. I know to do some specific things but I don’t know why or when it will be less efficient or what will be better

Everyday I come online and hear so much technical talk and I get scared because I’ve been in the field for 3 years, on my way to being promoted from junior to mid dev, and I don’t know so much

Sometimes I see people talk about how there are bad devs in the market and I can’t help but feel I am one of them

Tbh I genuinely love this industry and don’t see myself doing anything else and I want to get better and stop feeling this way. I don’t know what to do to bridge this knowledge gap

I know enough to get my daily tasks done at my job (usually with a lot of struggle though) I want to learn more about the abstract and general concepts about programming, not just the specific languages/frameworks I work with, what can I do?
