Is it a bad idea to send a cover letter that says I have an offer deadline at the end of this month?

I have a current offer deadline that I have to make a decision on by the end of this month, but I am also still actively applying to internships.

I’ve made a generic cover letter that, in addition to the usual cover letter stuff, says that I have an offer deadline.

My initial reason for doing this, is that I know having an offer makes you more competitive/attractive to companies, and I want to have that extra chance at the job lol.

One possible downside for doing this (that I can think of) is that if the recruiter reviews my application AFTER the deadline already passed, I feel like they may think I accepted with this other company, figure I’m not still searching, and just pass up my application.

Any thoughts as to whether having this cover letter is a good idea or not?
