Can't run or compile C file in VSCode

Post Body

So I'm following along with the lecture week 1 and David says to use the online version of VSCode so that all students can follow along however when I use vscode dev there is no terminal to use the make command.

I already have and have used vscode on my personal desktop for a website however when trying to use make it doesn't work? it says it's not a cmdlet or function etc and won't run. I tried downloading makefile extension but that doesn't work. I also made sure to install the C/C extension and that didn't work, it also disabled stdio.h which was a whole other thing. I also tried using WSL and a remote window tab but that also didn't work which surprised me since I believe this is the cause of running VSCode on a windows PC not a mac. If anyone can help it'd be greatly appreciated as I cannot continue with the course otherwise
