Auto Stop, shifter won't go into gear

Does it happen to anybody with the manual that sometimes when at a stop, the car is auto-stops and with the engine off I can't get it back into gear and it won't turn back on I got a kind of force it or just turn it on and off. Bonus question does the AC kind of suck when the car is in Auto stop?
