Mining any Cryptocurrency

Hi, I used to mine ETH on claymore but I realised it was just one cryptocurrency among others and I wanted to know: it there a way to mine ANY cryptocurrency?

So if there is a way to mine, let's take the Paccoin (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/paccoin/), how would I manage to do so... I mean I want to MINE, not trade.

Do I need to run a scrypt, a software, how does it works?
