“Skinwalker Encounter at Congaree Natl Park

I was camping in Congaree National Park, 20 mins outside Columbia, South Carolina with my fiancé and best friend for about a week or so. It was a beautiful park, green and lush, with a small town (that I forgot the name of) about 5 minutes away from the campsites. I dont know if it's relevant but I am 1/3 Irquois and my fiancé and friend are both part Cherokee.

Off rip, the whole place especially the main road through it, Old Bluff Road, had a very eerie feeling to it, we were all super anxious and on edge while we were there. The "town" consisted of a run down bait shop, an empty ass hardware store, a Dollar General, and a tiny diner called JD's Place. They had super good food but the owner, JD and the old lady who cooked in the back and even the customers were super creepy. As soon as we walked in they all stared us down and stopped talking and turned the radio off until we left. JD was very quiet when he spoke, it almost seemed intentional, though when we asked for wood he told us where his house was and said he'd give us some if we went to get it.

The campsite was very secluded, and was all trees with small trails and small clearings between trees for tents and it had a small parking lot with a little hut for the bathrooms and no water or electricity.

Our site was in the very back with nobody really around because we arrived on a Monday. That night, I felt intense burning on the back of my neck, the feeling you get when you know someone is staring a hole into your neck. My friend felt a little paranoid as well and being the pagan/white witch she is, left an offering for anything that might be there, a little bit of fruit and nuts.

All was well for the next 3 days, we were still very on edge and never said anything to each other which was strange bc we're a close knit trio that tell each other everything that's on our mind.

The next night, I fell asleep around 11 pm while my friend and fiancé kept drinking around the fire, so this is what they told me. They went into the tent around 3 am and while they were talking, they heard an inhuman, hair raising scream mixed with a howl, super loud, like 300 yards away, then 8 rounds of a gun go off, then 30 sec later, sirens pulling into the parking lot.

My fiance described it as something dying. My friend said every hair on her body raised on end. Then they heard what sounded like police and dogs combing through the woods near us. I woke up around 4 to someone pressing their hand against the tent and whispering "Check it out." My friend said all throughout the night she heard bells nearby. The next morning, we found foot prints all around our tents and table and fire pit. I called the ranger station and police station and there was no reports of anything happening that night from either institution and they were super rude about it for no reason.

There was supposed to be a big storm for 2 days after that so we opted to go to a motel and when we went back to our campsite after those 2 days, it was around midnight, clear sky, no breeze, beautiful night for a fire!

We pulled into the lot and started unpacking some things and I kept hearing twigs cracking and leaves moving in the woods surrounding the parking lot, about 10-15 feet from us but hey, I'm in the woods, there's bound to be animals, but I kept peering around just to make sure there wasn't anything weird because I'm crazy superstitious. My friend kept hearing it as well, nevertheless we walked back to our campsite.

When we got there, our two tents were gone, our trash and trash can, our lanterns we had strung up and the supplies and clothes inside the tents.

The air mattress we had was on the picnic table, the rain tarp was still strung up, our cast iron pan was on top of our firewood, that was newly and neatly stacked in the fire pit. My friend had swept pine needles away from the pit and tents into piles and they were all moved back into place.

I kept hearing laughing and whispering from the woods behind our camp and there was nobody camping behind us. I also heard walking sounds from the right, where there was a tent with no lights, I could have sworn someone was walking up to us but nobody showed up and there was nobody there.

We said FUCK THIS and went to dip, and my friend started seeing 3 pairs of glowing eyes following us down the trail to the car. At this point, we all felt absolute terror and dread and wanted to GTFO asap. We loaded up the car when my friend grabbed my arm and said to get in NOW. She had seen loping figures that looked like nightmarish visions come to life. They were slightly hunched over humanoid figures with long arms that reached to their mid calf. One had pale grey skin, that looked dead and rotting with a deer skull on its head with a deer pelt wrapped around it with what she described as intestines.

One had a coyote pelt and the other had a bear pelt. As we drove away, something smashed against the drivers side of the car and shook it a bit, and my friend says she saw them following us off Old Bluff Road. I was focused on keeping my fiance calm and driving well to get out. A weird thing that we found out after was that people from Cayce SC (next to the park) wont talk about the park at all.

I cannot make this up yall. I dont know what those things were. My best guess is a skinwalker but I'm open to any ideas.”

Now, I don’t think I saw skinwalkers, I think I saw crawlers. FREAKYYY.
