New player help. What to do with an extra heir?
Post Body

Hey everyone! I started playing a few days ago and I'm having a blast. I started in Ireland as the game suggests and so far things are going well. My initial player character is getting older and will pass soon. I had two sons but the oldest was near useless with terrible traits so I disinherited and disowned him, leaving everything to my much more capable second son. He isn't the warrior king I've been playing as, but he'll do.

My question stems from something unexpected happening. My wife bore me another son super late. Now instead of everything going to one son it will be split up between two. I know the obvious solution is to change succession laws but earlier in my playthrough when I was still learning I went to limited crown authority and the realm went into an uproar and formed a faction against me. I panicked not knowing what that meant and went back down to one crown authority. I haven't been able to get back unfortunately.

I'm on the cusp of forming the Kingdom of Ireland. I'm just a 150 gold short approximately. I want to form the kingdom and consolidate my rule, but this new son is throwing a wrench in things and I'm not sure if my current character can live long enough to let enough gold trickle in to do it now and use the renown to disinherit him.

What do I do about this son? I'm just a bit shy of what I need to disinherit him, but I'm not sure if that's the right choice. I could imprison him, but I'd lose a lot of opinion amongst my family and vassals and I'm not sure if it carries over to the my heir. If I'm going to kick the bucket with people hating me and still liking my son then fuck it. I'm running out of time as my character is getting worse and will likely die soon. I need to avoid a succession war. That would be disastrous for my burgeoning kingdom! So tell me, what should I do before it's too late!?
