upcoming building reductions

So I saw that they're going to reduce the number of buildings and make them unlock able via tech throughout the different eras (I'm really not excited about this). Does anyone know how this is going to affect existing games? Being able to build is always very central to my role play in my games~ and its going to force players to play the game how the developers want, I'm not a bit fan.
