New rider looking for opinions!
Post Body

Hello /r/cruisers! So I am trying to decide on what to get for my first bike and I would very much like your opinions and reasoning for said opinion. I fully intend to test ride them myself but the more info the better! I have my eyes set on three different bikes.

  1. Honda Shadow Spirit 750. (2016 comes out soon maybe?)
  2. Harley Davidson street 750.
  3. Kawasaki Vulcan S.

A little about me and what I'm looking for: (please feel free to post personal preference outside of the following)

  1. I'm not young but I'm not old either.
  2. I have a bad back.
  3. Looking to seat the wife and I together.

Thank you for posting and forgive me for any errors please!

Update:

Thanks for the info so far! I'll be taking the riders course next month and I will not be purchasing a bike until I got my license. This is my research phase, I've been looking at info online and getting a feel for what I think I'd like. I won't be taking the wife anywhere on it with me anytime soon not until I feel ready for it. Good looking out. Lastly the cost to mod the seating for two is not an issue. As long as the bike will preform that is. I'm most definitely not looking to hot rod it down the streets but I am looking for something that would be ok as an almost daily driver if I wanted it to be or at the very least a weekend rider for the wife and I. Some fun, some style and some safety of course.

Keep the opinions coming I notice there is no love for the Harley yet. How do you guys feel about the Honda fury under the same ideas?

Update 2: Went to a couple dealers to look at bikes and sit on them. The Vulcan S is a strong contender and the 900 is not far behind it. I saw a Vstar and the bolt, neither was bad but they also did not grab me. The shadow I liked but I also really want to touch and sit on the fury which I'm told my local dealer should have some in soon. I will be looking at Harley sometime soon.

For additional info: there is about 400lbs between us but most of the time it's going to be just me on it. The option of having the wife so she can warm up to it and get her own in the near future is a nice place to start. I also like the abs option but like I said before I don't see myself running at 100mph. I have not married myself to a choice yet either. If you have an opinion for another bike I am very open to it.

Thanks for the info and please keep it coming. I'll update a couple more times and of course a final to come soon (4 weeks?) I hope.
