So I posted here a couple weeks ago asking how to start feeding crows in the city and I think I've had an exciting update, for anyone interested!!
So every day for the past week I've been leaving shelled peanuts out on my balcony all day. I won't even hang in the room connected to the balcony or anything because I want the crows to get comfortable coming so close to a house. Crows in the city tend to hang out on rooftops (as I've observed, anyway) and rarely, if ever, will they dip down and come so close to a human dwelling.
Anyway, I've been leaving shelled nuts out all day for a week and finally, early this morning, they were taken!! Obviously I can't be certain that crows are the culprit but like I said, the peanuts are in shells and most animals aren't smart enough to figure that out.
So, hopefully, I've gotten over the first hurdle of getting the crows comfortable enough to approach my building at all. Soon I'll start leaving the nuts out and hanging in the connected room where they can see me through a window to slowly get them comfortable with my presence. I have wanted to start feeding crows for years and I am so excited!!
