When I started CrossFit, I couldn’t do one strict pull up. I just kept working at it until I got to five strict. Next was skipping pull-ups, which weren’t too hard. About a year later I started doing butterfly pull-ups and that took about eight months to get 5 in a row. C2B is like a butterfly pull up with a bigger kick and a bit more pull. As I got stronger, they got easier.
MU’s were next; bigger kip with a hollow hold get you over the bar for a muscle up. I can now do 5 MU’s but want to get to 10.
Wow… inspirational man!! Thank you!!
Now… where dem BMU’s at!? Lol
Thank you nd BU's next week
I started CrossFit when I was 57. Start slowly and be patient with your progress. You’ve been an athlete so I’m sure you’ll get back into the groove quickly. Check your ego at the door and work within yourself. I think that’s one thing I’ve done pretty well and that’s been keep my ego out of it. I’ve had minor injuries but nothing to sideline me too long. Keep us posted on your progress!
I play Santa every year so it’s required
And thank you!
Stretching is so important. I work on both strict and butterfly pull-ups. One for strength the other for speed. Unless you have actual physical damage in your shoulders, I have found that fish oil helps all my joints.
I have been consistently doing CrossFit for the last seven years. Most movements take me a bit longer than other people, but I am persistent and determined.
Well I’m not the best writer but maybe I can explain. I am definitely using momentum to get my chest to touch the bar. In Crossfit, you can do strict or kipping or butterfly, as I’m doing in the vid. This is just a faster way to touch your chest to the bar. Some workouts call for you to do movements strict. If that’s the case you do strict. If it doesn’t call for strict you can use kipping or butterfly. Doing butterfly pull-ups and chest to bar do require strength but also gymnastic skills. Doing them butterfly is faster and some workouts are about how fast you can complete the workout. It’s definitely not cheating, just another way to do the movement. I hope that makes a little more sense for you.

I’ve never tried to max out. I think I’ll find out.
