I was reading a post earlier and someone delineated a difference between 'transvestite' and 'crossdresser' and it never really occurred to me that these could be different things. I know the previous term has fallen a bit out of vogue and is more rolled into just 'crossdressing' now but the term 'transvestic fetishism' is actually listed in the DSM-5 for psychologists as a disorder (I don't think I have a disorder, I think I have great legs that look good in heels - they can fuck off). And yes I know we don't need more labels, everything is fluid, sexuality is complicated, yada yada but it's just an interesting thought exercise.
So I pose this to the community - do you consider yourself a 'crossdresser' or a 'transvestic fetishist'? The former being the desire to look like opposite sex and the latter being more being sexually aroused while being dressed up and do it for the purposes of sexual fulfillment.
Me I'm much more of a hyper-sexualized characterization of femininity (but not for entertainment like perhaps drag) than wanting to look cute in a big sweater and jeans so I think I fall into the occasional 'transvestic fetishism' side of things.
