Are plastic snaps child safe?

Post Body

I'm looking at a pattern for an amigurumi mouse that is wearing a vest. The pattern involves a button to fasten the vest, but since I am intending to give this to a toddler I figured that might not be a great idea.

Someone suggested plastic snaps (Something like this). But I'm wondering if I should also avoid those. I don't know how easy they are to remove, and they are pretty small. I'm guessing is the yarn around it would fail before the fastened snap would.

Any thoughts are definitely welcomed.

Here is what it's supposed to look like at the end
