Red Heart Soft yarn question

I have the jeweltones of this yarn which is absolutely gorgeous. I wanted to make a satchel or bag out of it, but now I'm thinking it might be too soft. Could it withstand being made into mittens or fingerless gloves? Or would the bag be okay if I lined it?
