Hey, guys! I'm considering starting up a yarn review blog and I know that, a lot of the time, crochet get forgotten when looking up yarn swatches and such. So what would y'all like to see?
I used to crochet (quit when I was 16 because I was getting bullied) and though I now mostly knit, I still remember what to do and should be able to fairly easily pick it back up.
I already plan to be making a simple crochet swatch (if I remember right, that's just a 4x4 inch swatch done in single crochet for a basic swatch), but are there any other stitch types that would be important to see to get a good idea for how the yarn would acts for crochet? Like for knitting, you would want to see a simple lace swatch and a simple cable swatch. Also, anything else y'all can think of because I want to make these reviews as helpful as possible.
If you happen to have YouTube links for any of these techniques, that'd be helpful because it's been about ten years since I've picked up a hook.
EDIT: Here's what I know I need:
- A picture of the yarn as it come from the store
- the label information
- a 4x4 stockinette swatch
- a knitted cable swatch
- a knitted lace swatch
- a felted swatch
- a 4x4 double crochet swatch
- detail info on yarn
- WPI
- is it scratchy
- how many plies
- yarn texture
- halo
- does it split
- does it pill/shed
- does it bleed
EDIT 2:
How would the duchess stitch work as a texture stitch and a simple diamond mesh stitch to show open lacey work?
