Newborn Hat Question

I had my baby on Thursday by c-section & because he was a breech baby his head is round instead of slightly pointed. None of the hats we have or were given will stay on his head. Does anyone know of a pattern that I could make for him to have a hat that will stay on or should I try to make a pattern I already have in a smaller size for him?
