The point about Cree having the Nonagon's blood as her holy symbol, strongly suggesting that she worshipped "the Nonagon" and drew her clerical power from him in some way, is an interesting one. I wonder if Matt, in creating the character, envisaged her as a counterpart to another character who worships a not-quite-a-real-deity-yet: Jester. And both their semi-deities have sadistic streaks a mile wide, for bonus similarities. Tell Lucien about Artagan strangling Vax as payment, and he'd probably be mad he didn't think of the idea first.
Both from a certain point of view began the campaign trying to work out who their beloved deity really is, and both never swerved from that despite their deities' foibles. Jester went to the mat for Arty at TravelerCon and Cree went to the mat and then some for Lucien in Aeor and Cognouza. And hey, her sacrifice seems to have brought Lucien pretty close to godhood. Maybe he can repay her by bringing her back - with the right amount of limbs (4) and tentacles (0) even. Or maybe he really is the uncaring psycho he pretty much presents as and she's now beyond being useful to him. We'll see.
Maybe because the way things shook out (especially with Molly's early you know what) the party never spent the time with Cree they may have done if the story had gone other directions, and I don't think the idea of Cree and Jester having some similarities got explored.
