Post Body

So I've been thinking a ton about what is going to go down in the Sanitorium next week, and I have some thoughts.

I think we all know that the conversation between Caleb and Trent is going to be complicated; it seems to me that Trent wants Caleb to be actualized as the next great evil Assembly Member to continue his terrible legacy. It's not to kill Caleb or his friends necessarily, but to get Caleb or manipulate him to go on the path he wants for him.

One of the things that I think Trent has over Caleb, unrelated to killing him, Veth or Jester, is absolutely destroying him politically and essentially blaming ALL of the Beacon hand-off on the M9 thus taking all investigation off of him and his own and essentially destroying Caleb and the M9's ability to exist in the Empire. He could even say that the M9 have been Krynn agents themselves.

It would be a very strange position for the M9 to be in if this happens, like a more extreme version of Uriel's suspicion and ousting of VM from the Cloud District during the Briarwood Arc. We might see the possibility of a M9 Political Exile from the Dwendalion Empire. Or even being held in prison/court trials, whatever King Dwendel would do to them.

I don't know what Trent would demand of Caleb or the M9 for NOT turning them all in, maybe even kill Astrid or Aeudwulf or the other Assembly members that are opposed to him. Whatever it is will, by all odds, be a terrible terrible thing.
