(Marking as a spoiler because of the identity of the Traveler)
I have been running a because-pandemic Exandria campaign, using the Frozen Sick module from the Wildemount book. One of my players chose to be an archfey Warlock, and I offered the Traveler as the patron, and said player ran with it.
Today's session, he chose to reveal himself to Danni's friends because he had a question one of them could answer, and they didn't have any pesky paladins or clerics who would be all self-righteous about the Traveler pretending to be a god.
One of the players is a monk (way of the kensei) of the cobalt soul, and he studies religions as an anthropological thing. So the Traveler bluntly asked, "What the F*&%^ do gods even do?".
He was also a dickbag, and the warlock sassed him, which entertained him to no end.
It was an absolute delight getting to play this character after watching Matt Mercer do it. And give the players their own glimpse into the character.
None of them watches Critical Role, except for one, who doesn't know the Traveler's real identity yet. So I've had to travel a narrow line of powerful, campy, dramatic archfey, without being too obviously Artagan.
