I've watched a solid dozen of his films and while I enjoy about half of that I still find even the enjoyable ones sort of a let-down to a degree. I think a lot of his ideas are far better than the execution.
I think the whole thing started with Videodrome for me. I found it such a frustrating thing to get through. It was angering to realize I'd just watched what felt like a 3 hour excursion.
I dunno, I'm just not sure what it is but I find so much of him middling and I feel like I'm missing something because so many people heap such large amounts of praise on him.
