Post Body
I watched "The Talented Mr. Ripley" before I even knew "Purple Noon" existed, and even after seeing this second this is superior to the American version. While Matt Damon gives a solid performance as Tom Ripley, Alain Delon is absolutely remarkable in this role. The same man who can play a figure of stoicism in "Le Samurai" brings so much nuance to this sinister and dark turn, and is captivating every time he's on screen. One of the best Criterion Collection films out there.
